Biographical / Historical
Charles Henry Raymond was born in 1855. He graduated from Wesleyan University in 1877. After teaching at the Wilbraham Academy, Raymond arrived at Lawrenceville in 1889 as the head of the elocution department and house master of Davis House. His duties covered a wide range, including teacher, director of gymnastics, supervisor of the Calliopean Society, and director of the Periwig Club. Perhaps his most prominent position at Lawrenceville was serving as assistant head master to Simon J. McPherson. He worked closely with Head Master McPherson and helped shaped school administration. He retired from Lawrenceville in 1926. He died on December 23, 1944.
