The bulk of the P.C. Norris World War I Collection consists of correspondence to and from Lawrenceville alumni serving in World War I. The correspondents include many notable Lawrentians of the period. The men often wrote about the experience of being away from home and in combat. Other items include photographs, newspaper clippings, and wedding announcements. The bulk of the documents date from immediately before the war to shortly after armistice.
Sixth War Letter, March 1918
Contains 2 copies of a 6 page typewritten letter from Norris to "Lawrenceville Friends" and 2 copies of a 13 page "supplement" to the letter. Pages 3 and 5 of the letter and pages 2-4 of the supplement are missing. In the letter, Norris updates recipients on Lawrenceville sports and happennings at the school, and includes updates from letters recieved from Lawrenceville alumni in service. The supplement consists of list of enlisted Lawrenceville alumni and their locations.
Third War Letter, December 1917
Contains 2 copies of 7 page typewritten letter from Norris to "Lawrenceville Friends". Page 2 of each letter is missing. Norris includes updates on alumni and the Lawrenceville School. Norris also writes about an alumnus killed in action.
Thirteenth Letter - The Second Victory Letter, January - February - March 1919
Contains 3 copies of a 4 page letter from Norris to "Lawrenceville friends". The letter consists of updates about the school, and changes to the faculty, updates about Lawrenceville sports, and updates about the lives of Lawrenceville alumni.
