Scope and Contents

The Alumni Files Collection consists of files on Lawrenceville School alumni compiled by the Stephan Archives. The files include correspondence to and from students and alumni, newspaper clippings and other materials documenting the careers of alumni, published writings of alumni, school work such as essays and tests, reminiscences, and school documents such as report cards.

The Anniversaries Collection includes documents created around school anniversary celebrations. Documents include planning correspondence, pamphlets and programs outlining festivity details, invitations, school publications, transcripts of addresses and speeches, and newspaper clippings.

The Athletic Department Records include documents related to sports and athletic programs on campus. The bulk of the documents consist of rosters and programs from sporting events.

Series 1: All-Round and Senior Trophy includes lists of winners and reports detailing award point tallies through 1950. Also included are descriptions of the history of the award and parameters for scoring. Series 3 consists of programs for the annual award ceremony and lists of annual school and house academic and athletic awards. This series also includes some documentation on annual service awards for faculty and staff.

Scope and Contents The bulk of the Ceremonies Collection consists of a near-complete run of commencement programs. Commencement programs typically include a list of the graduating class and the names of the speakers including the valedictorian and guests. The Series 1 also contains commencement concert and baccalaureate service programs, invitations, and itineraries outlining commencement weekend events, Valedictoria addresses, and Aurelian Speeches. The bulk of the Green Family Collection consists of biographical material pertaining to John Cleve Green, Henry Woodhull Green and other members of the Green family. Documents include biographical sketches, family trees, and a small amount of correspondence and business papers as John Cleve Green. Also include are a small amount personal affects of Helen Wood Green, daughter of Henry Woodhull Green.

The bulk of the Housemaster Handbook Collection consists of an incomplete run of Housemaster Handbooks. Handbooks outline the duties of the housemaster and explain procedures for handling any issues students may have in their lives. The bulk of the handbooks date from the 1990s. Also included is a miscellaneous folder of housemaster-related material consisting of meeting minutes, letters to housemasters from headmasters, lists of house rules, and lists of past headmasters.

Scope and Contents The Collection of Owen Johnson Material includes miscellaneous documents pertaining to The Lawrenceville Stories and publisher Simon & Schuster, newspaper clippings and biographical material, numerous obituaries, and Johnson's handwritten manuscript for "The Founding of the Lit," which was published in the Lit in 1945. Scope and Contents The Lawrence Collection consists of a near-complete run of unbound school newspapers. Larger gaps appear in the 19th century portion of the run. The Lawrence features many of the typical features and sections of a traditional newspaper. The typical size of most editions is four pages though several larger editions that mark important events are printed at various points during school year. The Lawrenceville Postcard collection includes both color and black and white postcards of the Lawrenceville campus and the surrounding town. The collection dates from the early days of "The Circle" to present day.

The Lawrenceville School Newspaper Clippings Collection consists of Lawrenceville School-related news from local and national newspapers. Clippings include news on prominent alumni, events on campus, building projects on campus, and student athletics. Clippings of note include early advertisements for the school that predate the 1880s reorganization and name change. Also included are several magazine articles from national publications.

Scope and Contents This collection consists of negatives of photographs taken by Leigh Photographs for the Lawrenceville School dating from Leigh's founding in 1945 through the mid-1990s. Though the bulk of the negatives are black and white, some color negatives are also included. The boxes contain 4x5 and 2.25 x 2.25 negatives. The binders contain 35mm and 120 film negative strips.
